Dear Americans,
This is what happens when you spread your culture.
This poor fella in the video below is trying so hard to sound like the American ‘icons’ he’s watched. At over 7 million hits, I’m not sure i he feels he’s a success or even knows that so many are pitying him. Fortunately, some of us have been able to find comic relief in what could very well be a copy-cat disaster. It’s painful, pathetic and hilarious all at once. If you’re American, you might be moved to comment as one American commenter did, ‘… . My God, what have we done!’

Well, at least he’s not rapping with a Big Mac in his mouth–another not-so-wonderful Western gift. 🙂

damn…my flash player isn’t working right now…what is the video of?

It’s a boy from South Sudan that’s giving his best, but sadly terrible, attempt at hip hop. The video to his ‘song’ must have been done with Microsoft Office or whatever. It’s a real massacre. You want to tear your eyes way but you simply can’t, waiting to see if it can get any worse.
Given the political climate in their land, if that takes his mind away from the misery and actual massacres, I guess we can live with it. 🙂

He has a dream, right? God knows, I puke over Gangnam style! …and I know the moves like everyone else.

He’s clearly got a dream, yes. Haha…hadn’t thought of that. I was yet to find anyone that’s not a Gangnam style fan. Funny how even the things we don’t particularly like can rub off on us. 🙂

I a vocalists, I have performed for years, and I am American. I am also now not very proud of my country and what it represents to the outside world
Granted I am biased when it comes to rap, and thankfully not all Hip Hop is rap because i claim to not dislike any genre in music and I will also admit there are some rap tunes I enjoy for the poetry and cadence.
This young man though and his obvious dream disturb me in the sense that my country is selling a dream that no longer exists in America. Not even for its native people.
No longer can oppression from other countries come to the USA and expect a life freedom and success, Its hard to feel free when you are hungry, wet & cold.
I am so disappointed in My America, but tat being said it has served to pi ut the fire back under me an continue advocating for a brighter America.
Thank you for this incredibly powerful post J Kat. i have missed your writings nd thoughts.~ BB

Unfortunately most young people outside Europe and North America do not know that the grass isn’t always greener across the fence. Or they cross the fence anyway then discover you’ve got to buy the grass, mow it, water it, buy fertilisers, and none of that falls from heaven like manna. So to speak. It is said Africa is the future. Maybe they’ll listen.
Thanks for coming by, Baroness, and a happy new year to you!
